Wait help I forgot if I was watching a kids’ show or animated fanfiction.
I read the first screenshot and I was like “Say yes, and make me the happiest man in the world,” and I wasn’t that far off.
You guys, this was the status quo for a major Iron Man villain in 1991.
See, this is why I can’t hang out on non-Comicsalliance comics websites. After Iron Man 3, so many fanboys were mad about how the Mandarin was portrayed because he wasn’t like the character in the comics. And then offended and angry when they’re told that the Mandarin is a racist caricature.

Now I understand why they thanked Fan Bingbing in the credits!
My Chinese isn’t really good enough to understand what they’re talking about, unfortunately. Also, the video gets out of sync with the audio. Looking forward to a subtitled version! Even if it’s subtitled in Chinese, that would still help me understand a bit better.
This afternoon I watched IM3 in the theatre for the second time. Just as awesome this time around!
Is it better than the first movie? I think, unlike the first movie, there are only a couple minor cringe-inducing moments. I can think of a lot more cringeworthy things in the first one, some of them being pretty major (e.g. Obadiah Stane in the Iron Monger suit; Obadiah Stane in general; Tony is totally fine with making weapons for the US government, but when the brown terrorists get them it’s a problem; pre-Afghanistan Tony is supposed to be a dick, but it’s also a total power fantasy and we’re also supposed to admire and envy him).
But it’s so hard to choose! I love them both! I think 1 and 3 are probably equally good, but for different reasons. 3 is more clever and progressive, but 1 establishes the character and the tone so, so well.
